I stepped in it today. Over at comics.com there’s a wild run for the exits by all our not-so-loyal right wing readers.
For the hundredth time, we occasionally do topical/political material. Maybe two or three weeks a year tops. And yes, both T and I tend to tip a bit toward the left in today’s political climate. But that’s only because the scale has slide so far to the right. I think both T and I would say we were moderates.
But I really don’t get the vitriol directed our way about Romney. Even a good chunk of the right thinks he’s a bad candidate. Our harmless little jab is directed at his own self-inflicted wounds (bloodless wounds).
So, if you can’t stand us doing a political strip now and then go with God. But seriously, do you really want to get this worked up about a comic strip?
Seriously?

Well, we’re right with you, friend. AND if someone feels Romney is a great candidate, surely his greatness can take some humor. If on the other hand they feel despair about their candidate, maybe they need to re-think!
I thought it was great! Car and Driver did a small bit of satire (several paragraphs) a month or so ago about Romney being a “car guy”; they received some negative feedback, too.
So you’re in good company..
Dangitalll! What the heck? When a turtle cannot share his thoughts openly with his raccoon friend and vise versa, without hurting tender feelings on the right side of the street, that’s when I want to remind all those Republicans I know about “political correctness” they always wanna be so whinny and cynical about. Manners is manners, humor is fun and criticism is good medicine. Take yr pick! Thanks fer yr hard work I say!
Have been very quiet as radio stations eviscerate candidate I voted for. What happened to equal time and objectivity on those. Oh yes, people can call in and sponsors can pedal their wares elsewhere. Also, I go to valley and get told how ugly candidate’s wife is … bare stupidity is hard to refute. It’s chilling to hear people shooting from the hip. I’m full of bullet holes, more
than ever before. What we need is more referees … the departure point of the humor riff. Riff wrath. I’m singed again. What we need to to acknowledge that tomorrow morning we are going to check out that cartoon again to see something of ourselves. We are bonded for life already. Why don’t people get that about human/pen & ink relations?
I for one always rely upon a box turtle and a raccoon to inform me before casting my presidential ballet. if you can’t trust the Boyz In The Woodz to give you the straight story…who can you trust?
