A space sling shot isn’t as stupid as it appears. Make it big enough, pull it back far enough and you create a substantial amount of kinetic energy that in the vacuum of space has a near infinite maximum effective range. Remember, a gravity sling shot an asteroid only 10km in diameter that may have wiped out the dinosaurs.
