The Further Adventures of Annoying Boy

oh130228You ever have one of those moments when you look at what you do for a living and ask yourself, “Seriously?”

I have those moments all the time.

I’m lucky that way.

Verne Will Yoga You Up

oh130227I’m not quite sure what part of the country Hedge takes place in.  A few weeks back there was snow on the ground and now the suburbanite today is in shorts and flip-flops.

We may have to put together a story bible — a thick go-to guide to all things Hedge.  Stuff like whether Verne’s head will actually fit into a honey-bear container (apparently so) to why RJ doesn’t have a mouth (ask T).

When I say “we” should put together a story bible I don’t mean me.  I using the “writer’s we” as in, “We are too busy and we think T should do it.”

T will never do it of course. He has exotic cattle to exfoliate and  lullaby to sleep every night. Therefore comic confusion will continue to reign.

It’s too bad.  This strip might actually amount to something someday. I mean, if we ever got around to taking it seriously.

Seriously.

Urine Over Your Head

oh130226 I love Hammy’s punch line.  Made me LOL.  Because, once again, I’d forgotten I’d written it.  One of the few benefits of getting older is forgetting I wrote the strip so I can enjoy it like everyone else.

Few benefits.  A couple benefits.

Okay, the only benefit.

O Bother!

oh130225It’s Verne-the-Pooh.

You know, without the sweetness, warmth and all around cuddly-ness of the real thing.

Still, virtually the same.

But not really.

The Last Windbreaker

oh130224T did a really nice job with this. I’m not quite sure if this is what I intended in the script, but it’s quite nice.

I’m up in Kansas City today for the ABA Winter Institute.  I’ll be schmoozing with independent book store folks trying to get them excited about Odd Squad.  I’m pretty sure bribery is a bad idea, but maybe I can offer to decorate some kid’s rooms or family rooms or just paint the house.

Whatever it takes.

Whatever it takes.

Catch Up Day

oh130221 oh130222 oh130223I’ve been updating this blog for over two years and haven’t missed a day until this week.  My Odd Squad book tour proved too much for my immune system and I got sick.  I never get sick, mostly because I never leave my cave. This may explain why I’m not more successful.

Despite being under the weather, the tour went well.  Especially the school visits.  Captive audiences being especially conducive  to rambling cartoonists.  Sold a lot of books.  Signed a lot of books.

I’ll post an entry later to update all the Odd Squad news.  Bottom line:  the book is doing well.

Over the Hedge Jeopardy

oh130220I like Hammy’s sign in panel.  I think he was trying to draw a spleen, but I can’t be sure.
