Hammy = Shemp

oh160420Yes, Verne’s front and rear protuberances are  graphically concerning.

It’s a nose and a tail.

I’m pretty sure.

Hug-o-Death

Over the Hedge

I don’t remember writing Verne whacking the tail at the end.  But it’s a nice touch from T.

The One Where We Rip Off David After Dentist

Over the Hedge

David After Dentist is an amazing piece of cinema verite.  As a parent, I can remember many amazing “kids say the darndest things” moments.  I just didn’t have a video camera at the time.   And if I did, would I film it?  And if I filmed it, would I post it on YouTube?

I don’t think I would.

As funny and charming as DAD is, I think it’s exploitive.  They’re running an ad before the video, so someone’s making money off it. Maybe they’re giving it all to charity.  I don’t know.   But think of David.   That video has 80 million views.  For the rest of his life, he’ll be the goofy, spaced out kid who said, “Is this going to last forever?”

No, I don’t think I would have posted it.

Would you?

RJ Survives Surgery: World Breathing Again

Over the Hedge

See.  This is how they’re going to pay for the operation.  And here you thought I’d just sailed over that plot sink hole.

Oh ye of little of faith.   I’m a professional.  I know what I’m doing.  This isn’t my first rodeo.

Trust, people.  It’s all about trust.

And beer.

And chips and salsa.

And more beer.

The Tail Bone’s Connected to the Spleen Bone

Over the Hedge

I designed that surgical diagram using the extensive knowledge I gleaned from when I was pre-med in college. The anatomical detail is impressive when you consider it’s drawn with a crayon entirely from memory.

Yes, I was all set to be a doctor until I learned cartoonists could sleep in and no one cared how many Bud Light Limes you had the night before.

Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less credentialed.
And that has made all the difference.
